So You’re Thinking About Homeschooling by Lisa Welchel- a Youtube VideoBook Review

This book (SO You're Thinking About Homeschooling) has helped me to see the home educating family from different perspectives.

I think one of the beauties of homeschooling is that there are such a wide array of people and types of families that are home educating.  And we do it in SO many different ways.

I am one of those folks that LOVE to watch documentaries.  From time to time I even stumble upon a reality tv show that I sort of like...  (the more wholesome ones, though, like 19 Kids and Counting...just to clear that up!)

The reason I like documentaries?

I am into PEOPLE.  Different lifestyles.  Different ways of thinking, modes of living.  Cultural differences.

All of this stuff intrigues me.

So, it goes to say that I am joyfully intrigued by any book or movie or podcast or YouTube channel, for that matter, that introduces me to DIFFERENT homeschooling families - and not just around the U.S., but around the globe.

That is one of the very reasons I enjoyed reading this book by Lisa Welchel.

I did a short review on the book on my YouTube channel.  Check it out, and leave me  a comment, rate, subscribe...all that stuff !  Thanks for watching.

  1. I read that book before I decided to homeschool and I loved it! I'm with you - I love watching people and learning about people. I think blogs are great because I love seeing how other people homeschool and just live for that matter. Anyway, back to the book . . . I enjoyed reading about the different types of families that homeschool for different reasons and all the while going about it from totally different perspectives.

  3. I stumbled across your blog looking for resources to homeschool or not. What made you think about homeschooling in the first place? I've been doing research on pros and cons and it seems the pros greatly outweigh the cons. I have a daughter who is almost 5 and is currently in preschool 2 days/week from 9 - 2. I just can't imagine putting her in Kindergarten next year 5 days/week from 7:30 - 2:45. But then I think about the fun I had in high school and almost don't want to take that away from her. Any suggestions or comments?
    Thanks, Brook

  4. Hi, Brook...homeschooling is a mode of education which I equate to FREEDOM. It gives me (and my children, of course) the freedom to learn and explore life as we see fit. If we do need extra help, we know where to find it. Tutors and classes for homeschoolers abound, and so do the vast amounts of socialization opportunities.
You can't lose by choosing to keep your kindergartener at home one extra year, in my opinion.
Hope you find the perfect educational fit for you daughter!
